I am Home

In 2021 we conducted a research evaluation for Food Next Door Coop, measuring the wellbeing impacts associated with their community farming project.

The I am Home report came at a critical time, demonstrating the important positive impacts that growing food together can have on the wellbeing of a local community.

When we embark on a research process that is regenerative, we first ask how are we thinking about this, before we start the doing. By firstly setting values for the research process, we consider the potential impacts of the research on the project team, the research participants and the community. We don’t just think about what we need to extract, but what we will give back in reciprocity.

In 2023 we launched the tri-lingual children’s book We are Home which shares the Food Next Story in Swahili, Kirundi and English. The idea for the book emerged from the initial research, where farmers told us how important it is to be sharing their culture with their children.

We are Home is available to purchase from Collins Booksellers Mildura and the Mildura Visitor Information Centre.
