We are Home

In 2023 we launched the tri-lingual children’s book We are Home which shares the Food Next Story in Swahili, Kirundi and English. The idea for the book emerged from initial research into the wellbeing impact of community farming for new migrant and refugees from Burundi, who told us how important it is to be sharing their culture with their children.

Workshops were held with the farmers to develop the outline of the story, and local illustrator Kieran Mangan ran creative sessions with the farmers children to capture their artwork to include in the book.

The book has been used as a learning research in multiple local Primary Schools. We are Home is available to purchase from Collins Booksellers Mildura and the Mildura Visitor Information Centre.
